Pamplona

Pamplona is the capital of the Foral Community of Navarra and in addition to being known for its history and gastronomy, its San Fermín festivities are one of the most popular attractions during the month of July worldwide.

Among the itinerary that one has to follow when arriving in Pamplona is a visit to the central town hall square. There you can find the city's Town Hall, whose façade is in a striking baroque style, and next to it you will see the Gothic church of San Saturnino, built in the 13th century. 

In the surrounding area there are other points of great interest such as the Museum of Navarra, which exhibits an important collection of archaeological pieces and works of art; the Plaza del Castillo, surrounded by impressive historical buildings such as the Palacio de Navarra; and the Navarrería neighborhood, where the cathedral of Santa María La Real stands. 

Likewise, it is curious to visit the noble houses such as that of Itúrbide, which even preserves the coat of arms belonging to the family. And if what you are looking for are green spaces, be sure to visit the Ciudadela and Taconera parks, as well as the Media Luna gardens.

Gastronomy is an intrinsic part of Pamplona culture. Hence, you cannot return home without delighting yourself with products from the Navarrese garden, such as asparagus or piquillo peppers. Other dishes such as lamb, whether roasted or chilindrón, are also exquisite. And to pair all this experience, opt for a wine with a Navarrese designation of origin and for dessert have a pacharán.

Another event you have to keep in mind is the celebration of the world-famous Sanfermines, which takes place between July 6 and 14. Declared of International Tourist Interest, during these festivities you can enjoy the traditional running of the bulls.
