Jameos del Agua

The word 'jameo' refers to a geological formation produced by the collapse of a volcanic lava tube. Three of them originated from the Corona Volcano, resulting in what is known as Jameos del Agua. In this natural cave, César Manrique designed an auditorium that capitalises on the cavity’s acoustics; it is used to host all types of events and concerts. Mirador del Río
This viewpoint, built by César Manrique, is 400 m high and located on the Risco de Famara. César Manrique Foundation
Upon settling himself on the island, Manrique decided to build his Casa del Volcán in the centre of Lanzarote. The building, located in the municipality of Tahíche, next to Costa Teguise, was built on five volcanic bubbles and is an example of local architecture in complete harmony with the landscape. The house is now a museum and can be visited any day of the week. It exhibits two collections: one of contemporary art, made up of artists from the same generation as Manrique, and another collection of his own works.
