Few tourist destinations can match Mexico in terms of its richness and diversity. Mexico has two important coasts. Its Pacific coast is carved with bays that are home to countless sandy beaches. From Puerto Vallarta to Manzanillo, passing through Ixtapa and Huatulco, all the Pacific hotel complexes are unique, but they have one thing in common: beautiful beaches. The Yucatan peninsula in Mexico juts out into the Caribbean with Cancun at its northern end and the Riviera Mayamás to the south. These hotel complexes in Mexico are famous for their wide beaches and for being the access routes to the Mayan ruins. Close to the coast, the island of Cozumel is a world-famous diving destination, as it is located at the northern end of the extensive Mesoamerican barrier reef. Inland, the city of Cuernavaca brims with history and charm. In Mexico there is another peninsula, Baja California Sur, which is located in the Pacific, borders the Sea of Cortez and ends in Los Cabos, two sister cities known for their intense nightlife, which harbor a surprising secret.
Puerto Vallarta is an excellent vacation spot located on Bahía de Banderas, a vast expanse of almost 100 kilometers of beaches surrounded by the Sierra Madre mountains. Just south of the city is Mismaloya beach, a cove surrounded by palm trees that is undoubtedly the most charming beach in the entire bay. Playa de las Caletas is an isolated place, and can only be accessed by boat. It is the former home of film director John Huston, who considered that place the most beautiful in the world.
Manzanillo has two crescent-shaped bays. Some hotels have private beaches so guests can swim in Manzanillo Bay, thus avoiding the crowds. A day trip will take travelers to Barra de Navidad, a small town that takes us back to ancient Mexico, with stops at a salt factory and a sea turtle reserve that will delight the little ones. Those looking for a hotel in Mexico with fabulous ocean views will find it in Ixtapa. Watching the sunset at Playa el Palmar is something unforgettable. Almost 10 kilometers long, Playa el Palmar is the ideal place for swimming, sunbathing and long walks. A ferry ride of just 10 minutes takes visitors to Ixtapa Island, a beautiful place with coral reefs perfect for snorkeling.
Huatulco's natural beauty is hard to beat. With nine bays and innumerable coves, its coast presents a wild environment and offers other services such as golf and a water park on Playa de Tangolunda. A guided visit to the Huatulco National Park is an unforgettable experience. With more than 70 square kilometers of extension, it is a first level ecotourism reserve. The Los Cabos region is known for its nightlife and water sports. This is true of Cabo San Lucas, although its sister city to the north, San José del Cabo, is a much quieter place. San José del Cabo is located in an estuary with great environmental diversity. From here paths lead to a biological bird reserve. And incredible as it may seem, travelers can book a camel ride along the beach.
Hotels with fabulous beaches are common in Mexico, and the best example of this is Cancun. Two beaches stand out along the narrow isthmus: Playa Linda and Tucancún. They are long strips of white sand and crystalline waters that convey the iconic image of vacations on the beaches of Mexico. Nearby are the famous Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza. Just to the south, the Riviera Maya has a range of luxury beachfront hotels. From these hotels you can access the cenotes, beautiful natural pools that spring from an underground river that is unique in this region. The Cenote Azul is one of the largest. A few kilometers from the coast, the island of Cozumel has 36 dive sites, ranging from expert to easy. But the island is not just for divers. At Playa San Francisco, bathers can see dolphins and turtles in its clear waters.
The inland city of Cuernavaca offers a quiet refuge located in the center of Mexico. It was the home of Hernán Cortés in the 16th century, and his former palace, now a museum, is a well-preserved example of Spanish colonial architecture. Cuernavaca is also home to exceptional parks and is a point of reference for lovers of mountain sports.
