La Bobadilla, a Royal Hideaway Hotel is located in the Sierra de Loja, a mountain range with an area of 210 km2 in the province of Granada. A natural setting known for its beautiful landscapes dominated by limestone rock, including Mediterranean forest, riverbeds, springs and green valleys.
The history of this accommodation in Loja, Granada, dates back to the early 80s, when businessmen Rolf Egli and Rudolf Staab acquireda farm in the middle of the Mediterranean forest with the intention of building a restaurant in the Andalusian countryside. They fell in love with the beauty of the landscape, with its green hills of holm oaks and olive groves in an unspoilt setting, where the silence is only interrupted by the chirping of birds.
The architect Jesús del Valle not only interpreted their wishes, but took them a step further. What was originally intended to be a restaurant ended up becoming La Bobadilla, a Royal Hideaway Hotel, a farmhouse hidden in the Sierra de Loja conceived as a small Andalusian village with Mudejar architecture that advocates sustainable luxury. Later, the estate grew to acquire 700 hectares, thus preventing possible future constructions in its surroundings from breaking with the exclusivity of the hotel.
The interiors of the hotel trace the history of Andalusia through materials and ornaments that evoke great architectural emblems such as the Alhambra or the Mosque of Cordoba, in constant dialogue with the environment. From cobblestone floors and regal fabrics to fine woods and marble pieces.
