Itinerary day 1
10.00 - 11.30
Stroll through the centre of Vigo
The weekend begins in the city centre, discovering its main spots, all of them accessible on foot. From the famous slopes of Gran Vía, to symbolic streets such as Urzáiz, García Barbón or Policarpo Sanz. Don't forget to visit the Porta do Sol to see the Sireno, and the popular shopping street of Príncipe, the hub of shopping in Vigo.
19.00-20.00
Casco Vello de Vigo
The Beiramar promenade serves as a reference point to enter the small Vigo Old Town, which hides corners such as the Plaza de la Constitución square or streets like Oliva or La Palma. In the heart of old Vigo is the neoclassical Co-cathedral of Santa María or Collegiate Church, which houses the image of the Cristo de la Victoria, the city's religious emblem that marks Vigo's main patron saint festivities.
21.00 - 23.00
Dinner at A Pedra
Without leaving Casco Vello, you can dine in the famous oyster bars around the A Pedra market. A whole street that pays homage to this delicacy that comes from the Vigo estuary. Of course, you can also try other seafood and fish in some of the restaurants and taverns you'll find in this area.
Itinerary day 2
10.00 - 11.30
Boat to the Cies Islands
You can't spend a weekend in Vigo and not visit the Cíes Islands, which are part of the Atlantic Islands National Park. To go to this archipelago of three islands, you can take the boats of the different shipping companies that leave from the Maritime Station in the port of Vigo. It is essential to book your ticket in advance, along with the access permit. You can visit two of the islands, as they are linked by a dyke and the sandy area of the famous Rodas beach.
11.30 - 12:30
Route to the Cíes lighthouse
Take advantage of the morning to explore the Cíes Islands by walking along the best-known route, the one that leads to its highest point, the Cíes or Monte Faro lighthouse, located 178 metres above sea level. This trail will allow you to pass from the island of Monteagudo to the lighthouse island, through the dike that connects them and that forms the Children's Lake, together with the beach of Rodas. From the lighthouse you will get absolutely spectacular views of the whole archipelago, the coast and the Atlantic.
13.30 - 15.00
Playa de Rodas
Did you know that Rhodes beach was chosen by the British newspaper The Guardian as the most beautiful beach in the world? Well, you can visit it, sunbathe on its famous sands and swim in its waters. This way you'll find out if what they say about the water temperature in the Cíes is true or not.
15:00-16:00
Comida en Cíes
The Cíes Islands are protected by the National Park and have very few businesses. You can eat at the restaurant next to the port, at the campsite or at the bar at the other end of Rodas. If you choose to bring your own food, remember that you have to return to Vigo with the waste.
16.00 - 17.00
Monteagudo Island
In the afternoon you can explore the north of the island of Monteagudo, a comfortable walk that will take you to the Peito lighthouse, the closest point to the mainland.Opposite, the famous Cape Home, one of the most spectacular places in this part of the Rías Baixas.
17.30 - 19.30
Boat back to Vigo
Take the boat back to Vigo mid-afternoon to make the most of the day after a spectacular day in the Cíes. In about 40 minutes you'll be back at the Maritime Station.
19:30 - 22:00
Walk and dinner in Bouzas
Come to the Bouzas neighbourhood to discover a Vigo that's different from the big city you'll see in the centre. Bouzas maintains the essence of a fishing village, with a charming old stone town next to the sea where some interesting buildings are still preserved. It's also an excellent place to go bar-hopping and dining.
Itinerary day 3
12.00 - 13.00
Monte do castro
You'll find Vigo's main viewpoint in the highest part of the city, right in the centre. From O Castro hill, you'll be able to see the estuary with the impressive Cíes Islands in the background. You can also take the opportunity to learn about Vigo's origins by visiting the archaeological site you'll find on one of the park's slopes.
14.00 - 15.30
Lunch in Silabario
To end the weekend in Vigo, nothing like visiting its most famous beach, Samil Beach. This 1.5-kilometre stretch of fine sand is perhaps the most popular among locals and is located right in front of the Cíes Islands. A great way to round off this weekend and, as Siniestro Total used to say, "let's rock and roll in Samil".
