The big question in Benidorm is always whether to go Levante or Poniente beach. Both have fine white sand, ideal facilities for a comfortable day at the beach, and top-notch safety equipment and assistance.

Both have a bustling beach life and beachgoers of all nationalities, but Levante beach has more leisure facilities and is a busier beach than Poniente beach.

Background and location of Levante Beach

Benidorm’s Levante Beach is one of the best known urban bathing areas in Europe and has a very youthful and family vibe. It’s also one of the names that feature regularly on the list of Blue Flags that rank the best bathing and quality of the sand and services.

It’s a beach of just over two kilometres of fine sand, ideal for watching the sunrise or for sunbathing until late in the afternoon.

The area to take a dip runs between Punta Pinet and Punta Canfali and includes a very clean golden stretch with many services and a calm blue sea that allows beachgoers to take the best dips in Benidorm.

Services and features

Levante Beach has all the services you can imagine. In addition to the basics and safety services, access on walkways, accessible points and lifeguards, assistance available both at medical aid posts and on foot, you can also find many play and sports areas, both for children and for the not so young who want to do more than just relax on the sandy beach.

This area has footbaths, environmentally friendly toilet cubicles, litter bins, and you can hire almost everything you need for a great day by the sea: sunbeds, parasols, floating platforms, and even water ski cables.

One of the things about the beach to be aware of is that when you go into the water there’s a barrier of rocks that can be a nuisance if you’re not familiar with it or more of a fun activity if you are.

Activities to do on Levante Beach

The best thing about Levante Beach is the range of activities on offer. If what you’re looking for is a bit of calm, you don’t even have to set foot on the sand to enjoy the sea and the breeze, as the swimming area is next to a promenade along which you can stroll or sit on one of the benches and enjoy the coming and going of the waves.

If you want to have a drink, the beach is full of beach bars, on and off the sand, offering a huge variety of gastronomic options for an ice cream, an aperitif, or a meal with friends, with your feet practically in the water.

It’s also one of the most famous areas for clubs and pubs in Benidorm, so when night falls, they are all usually very lively.

If it’s water sports you’re after, there’s a very wide range indeed: floating platforms, cable skiing, banana boats, jet skis, and even paragliding.

Where to eat on Levante Beach

The Levante Beach area is full of restaurants and beach bars, so there’s a lot of variety to choose from. A place with a great atmosphere is Dulcinea at the end of the beach. It has salads, sandwiches, hamburgers, among other options, at a very affordable price, so it’s a good idea if you want something quick.

If you’d prefer something more sophisticated, there’s La Mejillonera, which specialises in rice dishes as well as mussels, as its name in Spanish suggests, or Jardín Mediterráneo, which has incredible views.
