The bar in the Les Bateries de Montgat park boasts incredible views of the city that can be enjoyed while sipping a drink with your loved one. Two huge original cannons from the beginning of the twentieth century frame the terrace, which is set on a hill overlooking the sea and city of Barcelona. It’s a great spot for a bite to eat while you listen to live music and try some home-brewed craft beer.

Another excellent idea is to delve into the dreamy world of Gaudí and his plant-like creations by visiting Parc Güell and taking photos against a backdrop of colourful tiles. During your walk through Parc Güell don’t miss the Viaducto de los Enamorados where you can sit on a two-seater bench and watch the sun go down. This winding route around the hill is held up by columns that appear to grow upwards as if they were made by nature.

Check its programme and tell your partner to bring their glad rags because you’re about to experience a truly special evening. Take a stroll through the oldest gardens in Barcelona which were designed for romantic games with a cypress hedge maze and beautiful sculptures. Find your way through the maze to reach the centre where you’ll discover a statue of Eros. From here you can admire the small temples on either side, the stairways and the Neo-Classical pavilion, which you can reach by crossing a romantic canal whilst you behold the cascades.

If you really want to surprise your partner, head to the Museu de Cera [Wax Museum] near the monument to Christopher Columbus. The museum café is called El Bosc de les Fades [the Forest of the Fairies]. Pass through its velvet curtain to enter the magical world of a fairy tale forest inhabited by gnomes and watch out for the thunderstorm with light and sound effects.

Undoubtedly, one of the best sunsets in Barcelona can be admired from Tibidabo, the highest point in the city. After spending the day enjoying yourselves like children at the historic Tibidabo amusement park, head to the viewpoint to behold the sunset. You can also watch the sun go down without visiting the amusement park from the Temple Expiatori del Sagrat Cor church on Tibidabo.
