The objective of “Advanced Beginner “is paddling and catching open waves for students who already have experience as beginners
Defining an "advanced surfer" is subjective, as anyone who's surfed has some experience. However, our "Advanced Beginner" classes cater specifically to those who have already completed a beginner surf course.
The primary objective of this course is to empower students to paddle and catch open waves. This involves mastering key techniques:
- Wave Selection & Positioning: Learning to identify suitable waves, position yourself correctly in the water, and time your paddle entry effectively.
- Essential Maneuvers: Mastering fundamental surfing techniques like paddling and diving for alignment, finding the peak and lining up, prioritizing wave etiquette (leaving a wave on the side), and initiating wave rides.
- Board Control: Refining skills like Bottom Turns and Top Turns, and gaining confidence on the board in deeper water.
Before hitting the waves, we'll cover essential safety procedures, explain local currents, and conduct a thorough warm-up.
All our instructors are certified by the FES (Federación Española de Surf) or ISA (International Surfing Association) and are qualified in first aid. We maintain small class sizes (maximum 8 students per instructor) to ensure personalized attention and cater to individual skill levels. We provide top-quality surfboards and equipment from renowned brands like Billabong and Ocean&Earth, all in excellent condition.
What should you know before you go?
- Once you have made your booking, we will contact you via phone or email to confirm your pick-up time, schedule depends on the tides, wind and sea conditions
- It is essential to have a previous experience as a surfer beginner, any doubts with your level get in touch with us
- Be over 7 years old
- We chose the best beach depending on the tides, weather, wind and the size of the waves. The school's beaches are located on the east, west and south coasts of the island. Depending on the spot, the journey can take between 5 and 25 minutes each way, (with the transfer included, you'll be out for about 4.5 hours before returning to the hotel).
What to bring?
- Swimwear, towel, sunscreen and water
- It is advisable to bring some type of snacks
Included on booking:
- Pick-up return service in our 4X4 Land Rovers from your hotel to the point chosen for classes
- Ocean&Earth epoxy surfboards
- Billabong wetsuits
- Experienced instructors certified as first responders
- 3 to 3.5 hours of class in small groups of a maximum of 6 to 8 students per instructor
