Hike to the summit of Veleta Peak at 3,398 meters above sea level with breathtaking views of Africa and the Mediterranean Coast
Fantastic full-day hiking day through the Sierra Nevada mountains to the top of Pico Veleta. The challenging hike lasts about 5 hours during which we walk 10 kms. Our professional guide will ensure that the pace is comfortable for everyone in the group, with several breaks to relax, take pictures and enjoy the landscape.
We will begin walking along the charming glacial valley of San Juan, where we will see running water and radiant wildflowers, and perhaps, mountain goats, wild horses or eagles. Halfway through the walk, we will arrive at the Veleta Positions with military fortifications built during the Spanish Civil War, we will pause for lunch and continue along the northwestern ridges to the top, passing through the impressive Veleta north wall and breathing in its fresh air with beautiful views of the nearby mountains and the Mediterranean coast. We will go down through the Dilar glacier valley and through a group of mountain lakes until we reach our starting point again.
What should you know before you go?
- Activity suitable for people over 15 years old
- Customers must be in good physical condition, practicing aerobic sports (running, cycling, hiking in the mountains), regularly.
- Activity not suitable for pregnant women and travelers with heart conditions or other serious medical problems
- The activity may be canceled due to adverse weather conditions or due to the lack of a minimum number of participants. In these cases, another alternative date or a full refund of the amount paid will be offered.
What to bring?
