Description
Route through wheat fields, olive groves and pastures through the Huelva farmland to observe birds of prey and little birds near by Niebla Town
In this area, the traditional countryside of Huelva survives the advance of modern fruit growing. With the help of our expert bird watching local guide, we travel through the Huelva Countryside, a route through wheat, sunflower, olive groves and pastures where we will see fighting bulls, (interesting even if you don't like bullfighting!) , we will also visit the charming towns of San Juan and Niebla with their old castle and a 1,000-year-old Moorish wall around the historic center, house for one of the main colonies of Lesser Kestrel in Andalusia.
Possible birds for the checklist:
Residents: Marsh Harrier, Black-shouldered Kite, Little Owl, Cattle Egret, Hoopoe, White Stork, Stone Curlew, Little Ringed Plover, Calandra & Crested Larks, Stonechat, Sardinian & Dartford Warblers, Zitting Cisticola, Griffon Vulture.
Winter Birds: Skylark, Crane, Golden Plover, Lapwing, Hen Harrier, Chiffchaff, Song Thrush, Mistle Thrush.
Summer Birds: Lesser Kestrel, Booted Eagle, Short-toed Eagle, Bee-eater, Black-eared Wheatear, Melodious Warbler, Nightingale, Red-rumped Swallow, Pallid Swift.
Migrants: Redstart, Whinchat, Willow Warbler, Northern Wheatear.
What should you know before you go?
- The excursion is based on bird watching, although you don't need prior knowledge and the routes have a high environmental and landscape value by themselves
- The duration of the excursion is 4 hours, to which we must add the time we need to pick-up you from your hotel to the activity starting point and return
- Bring binoculars, we can lend you ours but only if we have availability
- Minimum age to carry out the activity 8 years

- Comfortable clothes and covered outdoor or sports shoes
- In summer sunscreen and a cap or hat
