Birds and nature in the Natural Park of Las Marismas del Río Piedras. Understanding trekking route led by our guide
This important nature reserve is home to many protected species and consists of more than 2500 ha. Our expert local guide will introduce you to the birds and flora living in this protected natural area. The 3-hour walk takes place through a very flat area without any difficulty and runs between pine forests and the marshes located at the mouth of the Piedras River, west of the El Rompido Village.
The first part of this path in the shape of an “8” runs along a waterfront to the marshes, an area where we can see abundant types of birds, especially at low tide. After crossing a wooden bridge, we will arrive at the pine forest while the road follows the edge of the marsh where the traditional salt flats were converted into a fish farm. Then we pass some ponds, old peat bogs and the hill where the lighthouse is located with beautiful views of the estuary, to set out on the way back
