Amazing trekking route along the recently tidy up Guadiana Nature Trail. Discover the two countries river connection
The Guadiana is one of the great rivers of the Iberian Peninsula and its beautiful final stretch is navigable for small boats. The newly renovated Guadiana Nature Trail allows us to enjoy without difficulty and with peace of mind a fantastic 19-kilometer walk with some ups and downs through scrubland, pastures, orchards, a mining town, a greenway and a Roman path to end at the beautiful town of Sanlúcar de Guadiana with its Portuguese twin city Alcoutim on the other side. Always taking the riverbed as a reference
Our private tour starts near the town of Pomarao in Portugal, recently connected to Spain by a new bridge. We follow the path along the river bank to Puerto de la Laja, an important mining port at the beginning of the 20th century. Then, the dismantled railway route will mark our route until we return to the Guadiana River banks, the main protagonist of this day, hand in hand with our expert local guide, you will learn about its border history that does not separate; but rather links two countries
