Description
A magical hiking journey along the first stage of the French Way of St. James in Spain!
This captivating tour offers an easy, primarily downhill, 3-hour hike that combines stunning natural beauty with historical and cultural immersion. Our adventure begins at the reception of the Royal Hideaway Canfranc Station Hotel where we board a bus to the Port of Somport, where we start our walk, a historic border crossing leading you into the vibrant nature of the Pyrenees.
Highlights of the walk include:
The archaeological ruins of the Monasterio-Hospital de Santa Cristina, which flourished in the 12th and 13th centuries as one of the most important monasteries in the Pyrenees.
The picturesque mountain town of Candanchú, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes.
The entrance to the Canal Roya, a fascinating 19th-century feat of hydraulic engineering.
A serene natural environment of mountains, forests, and meadows, culminating at the Pozas de Izas, a series of crystal-clear natural pools nestled in the Izas Valley, to finish again at Canfranc Estación.
Don't miss this unforgettable experience!
