A magical hiking journey along the first stage of the French Way of St. James in Spain!

This captivating tour offers an easy, primarily downhill, 3-hour hike that combines stunning natural beauty with historical and cultural immersion. Our adventure begins at the reception of the Royal Hideaway Canfranc Station Hotel where we board a bus to the Port of Somport, where we start our  walk, a historic border crossing leading you into the vibrant nature of the Pyrenees.

Highlights of the walk include:

• The archaeological ruins of the Monasterio-Hospital de Santa Cristina, which flourished in the 12th and 13th centuries as one of the most important monasteries in the Pyrenees.
• The picturesque mountain town of Candanchú, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes.
• The entrance to the Canal Roya, a fascinating 19th-century feat of hydraulic engineering.
• A serene natural environment of mountains, forests, and meadows, culminating at the Pozas de Izas, a series of crystal-clear natural pools nestled in the Izas Valley, to finish again at Canfranc Estación.

What should you know before you go?

• The experience starts and ends at Canfranc Station
• The walk is 6 Kms- and lasts 3 hours
• The activity may be canceled due to the lack of a minimum number of participants or due to adverse weather conditions. In these cases, another alternative date or a full refund  will be offered
• Route suitable only for children over 10 years old

What to bring?

• Comfortable clothing and covered hiking or sports shoes
• A small backpack, water, some kind of snack
• It is advisable to use sunscreen, a cap or hat
