This captivating tour offers an easy, primarily downhill, 3-hour hike that combines stunning natural beauty with historical and cultural immersion. Our adventure begins at the reception of the Royal Hideaway Canfranc Station Hotel where we board a bus to the Port of Somport, where we start our walk, a historic border crossing leading you into the vibrant nature of the Pyrenees.
Highlights of the walk include:
- The archaeological ruins of the Monasterio-Hospital de Santa Cristina, which flourished in the 12th and 13th centuries as one of the most important monasteries in the Pyrenees.
- The picturesque mountain town of Candanchú, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes.
- The entrance to the Canal Roya, a fascinating 19th-century feat of hydraulic engineering.
- A serene natural environment of mountains, forests, and meadows, culminating at the Pozas de Izas, a series of crystal-clear natural pools nestled in the Izas Valley, to finish again at Canfranc Estación.
