With its distinctive romantic, bohemian, hippy vibe, Ibiza’s fashion scene is instantly recognisable, and the island itself is a showcase for ever more varied and original trends. The style is eclectic and this is reflected in the shopping areas: the fashions to be found in some Hippy Markets such as Las Dalias or Punta Arabí is nothing like the fashion in Ibiza Town’s Avenida Bartomeu de Roselló. The same applies in the La Sirena & Art, shopping centres, and those shops selling luxury brands. But the best thing of all is that in Ibiza all these coexist in perfect harmony.
Let’s do a tour of Ibiza Town’s shops and shopping centres where you can get the complete Ibiza look. We’ll get to know the typical adlib fashion which is unique to the island, and we will discover the best street markets where you can buy a unique souvenir of your visit or a typical gourmet product. Don’t miss the best places to go shopping in Ibiza!

Where can you go shopping in Ibiza?
If you want to take advantage of your stay to get to know a little about each town and village in Ibiza while at the same time exploring the island’s best shops, these are the shopping areas you must be sure to make for:
The Port of Ibiza and Dalt Vila
In Ibiza Town, you will find the most varied and original selection of the whole island. It will be easy to find the shops and fit them into your own itinerary, as you won’t need to travel to the outskirts: almost all of them are in the area around the historic quarter,Dalt Vila and the port.
Begin your shopping expedition in Paseo de Vara del Rey, and then head for Calle de La Virgen, the La Marina neighbourhood, and the Port of Ibiza. In this last area, perhaps the most tourist-orientated, you’ll find all kinds of souvenirs, club-related merchandise, craft and accessory shops, boutiques selling Ibiza fashions, and street stalls. In summer, most of the shops stay open until midnight.
But if what you’re looking for is more international fashion, you need to head a few metres further on to Avenida Bartomeu de Roselló, also known as “the street of shops”, where you will find almost all the big, well-known, international stores.
Santa Eulalia del Río
This is one of the island’s friendliest towns on the island, so its shopping centre, like the one in Ibiza town, is quite accessible and won’t disrupt a quiet holiday. The main shopping areas are around the Paseo Marítimo [seafront promenade] and Calle Sant Jaume. You will find all kinds of shops, especially small, independent boutiques.
In Santa Eulalia, a famous street market is held during the summer months in the Passeig de S’Alamera. Here, you can also find handmade craft items, costume jewellery and accessories.
Santa Gertrudis de Fruitera
The charming little town of Santa Gertrudis lies inland. Packed with bars and restaurants, and buzzing in winter as well as summer, Santa Gertrudis is full of shops selling craft items accessories, and is a flagship for fashion in the trademark Ibiza style. Some typical local products such as Santa Gertrudis cheese are also available.
Shopping centres in Ibiza: La Sirena & Art
In Ibiza there is no place for enormous centres packed with shops and franchises. In their place, La Sirena & Art more than fulfils the shopping expectations of the island. Their multi-brand facilities are an unrivalled attraction for shoppers. There are two things that make these centres unique: firstly, they have a history going back over 50 years (La Sirena opened in 1964 and Art In 1966), and secondly, their location. Invariably located within towns, they are easily accessible and you do not need a car to visit them.
With over 25 outlets and a presence in Ibiza Town, Playa d’en Bossa, San Antonio and Santa Eulalia, among others, these shopping centres remain one of the island’s icons after 60 years. They offer a wide selection, and although they specialise in sports and casual clothing, accessories, toiletries and cosmetics, they also offer all kinds of things to help you enjoy your holiday on the island’s beaches. To put it simply, at La Sirena & Art you can find everything you require to ensure an unforgettable holiday in Ibiza.
Discover Adlib fashion
If you’ve already visited the fashion boutiques in the Port of Ibiza and Dalt Vila, or a street market such as Las Dalias, you will have noticed that there is a particular type of fashion to be found all over the island. Straw hats, slippers and espadrilles made of esparto grass, and lightweight, white dresses made with natural fibres and embellished with hand embroidery: this is adlib fashion, which originated in Ibiza and is unique in the world.
The history of this trend is linked to two very different cultures: traditional Ibiza attire and the casual, lightweight clothing favoured by the hippies. The fusion of these two cultures in the 1960s produced this style, which was christened ‘adlib’ years later with the advent of Ibiza Fashion week, or Pasarela AdLib, in the 1970s.
Almost 50 years later, Pasarela Adlib is still held every spring, revealing new trends, but with clothing and accessories still based on the same principles: comfort, timelessness, a hippy vibe and total respect for the natural female figure.
Street Markets and Hippy Markets
Ibiza’s street markets are the perfect place to find some of the island’s typical products, many of them produced by independent, local companies. You will find sobrasada [traditional, cured, spiced sausage], and butifarra [traditional pork sausage], herb liqueurs, honey, cheeses and some confectionery such as orelletes [ear-shaped pastries] and buñuelos [a type of doughnut]. You will also find stalls selling traditional Ibiza salt, to which some attribute energy-giving and regenerative properties, and which enjoys iconic status within and outside the island.
Each of the street markets is the direct legacy of the first hippy stallholders of the 1960s. At each of them craftsmen, designers, and producers endeavour to showcase the creative process, sell their goods and chat with their customers. Handmade costume jewellery, works of art, souvenirs of your stay, decorative items, clothing and accessories… the list goes on. In fact, it is very difficult to walk through a street market and come away empty-handed.
Las Dalias, is the most famous Hippy Market, but there is also the one at Punta Arabí, as well as those at Sant Joan, San Rafael, Sant Jordi, etc. A visit to any of these markets is quite an experience, not only for the shopping, but for the atmosphere: live music, stalls selling typical gourmet products, exhibitions, concerts, and activities for adults and children alike. If you’re visiting the island, make sure to visit at least one of these markets!
