Ibiza’s street markets are a clear expression of the artistic talent that flows around the island and makes it so attractive. Ibiza, with its light and energy, has served and continues to serve as an inspiration for crafts, design, and a love of nature. The hippie communities that settled on the island in the 60s established a handmade way of life that is still alive and well today and is visible in its many street markets.
Craftsmen, artists, and designers come to sell their handmade creations, and it’s not unusual to see them hard at work: making jewellery, paintings, ceramics, clothes or accessories. Or selling the products they grow and produce themselves, such as honey, cheese, fruit and vegetables, or wine.
The street markets are at their peak during the summer, but some of them are open all year round. Discover the most important ones: Las Dalias, Punta Arabí, Sant Joan, Sant Jordi… Be sure to visit them and take home a magical souvenir of your visit to the island!

Mercadillo de las Dalias
Located just before reaching the municipality of San Carlos, and although it’s not the cheapest market, it’s undoubtedly the most famous. Las Dalias is a symbol of the island and is a must-see. If you’re short on time or planning a weekend getaway, this is the market for you.
The origins of Las Dalias date back to the 50s. Back then, it was just a roadside venue with a dance floor. After the arrival of the hippies in the 60s and 70s, it became a meeting place with concerts and improvised sessions. In the 80s and 90s, the space was established, which started with just over five stalls and today houses more than 200. The Las Dalias stage attracted nationally and internationally renowned artists and, among the crowd, famous and historic visitors such as Brian May, Jimmy Page, and Mike Oldfield, among others.
Although Las Dalias is more alive than ever during the summer months, it’s one of the street markets you can find all year round, at least on Saturdays and on special dates. Famous markets include the Christmas Market, the Easter Market and, above all, the Night Market, which takes place on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday nights in summer, and where the festivities go on until the early hours of the morning.
Hippy Market de Punta Arabí, Es Canar
Five stalls inaugurated this street market in the municipality of Es Canar in 1973. The management of the Hotel Club Punta Arabí offered Ibiza’s hippies the chance to sell their handmade products as a tourist attraction for their guests. What they probably didn’t know is that this business initiative, a chance happening, would be a roaring success. Today it houses over 500 stalls and receives hundreds of visitors every Wednesday from April to October.
What can you find? Fashion, such as typical dresses from Ibiza, crafts, costume jewellery, accessories, natural cosmetics, antiques, musical instruments, and objects from different parts of the world. But the Hippy Market of Es Canar or Punta Arabí is more than this. A host of activities and services round off the leisure on offer, craftsmen who produce their creations on the spot, a children’s area, exhibitions, a supermarket, and a wide range of culinary selections.
Sant Joan de Labritja street market
Sant Joan de Labritja or San Juan, as this municipality in the north of the island is known, is home to one of the most special street markets in Ibiza. Every Sunday of the year, as long as the weather is good, the small streets of the town are full of life. Dozens of craftsmen selling their creations and chatting excitedly with visitors, live music, food and drink stalls…
What can you find? Handmade objects and local produce, such as honey, cheeses, and wines. Accessories, cosmetics and other products typically found in street markets: toys, decoration, household goods, fashion, beach items… And much more!
San Rafael craft market
On Thursdays from June to September, when the sun sets and dusk starts to fall in the town of San Rafael, the Plaza de la Iglesia is a hive of activity. The San Rafael craft market is one of the most famous inland markets on the island, attracting locals and tourists alike.
What will you find? Mainly products made on the spot by local craftsmen, agricultural products and something that stands out from other markets: the island’s traditional pottery stalls. If you’re looking for a special souvenir, you’re in the right place, as the best potters on Ibiza work and sell their creations in this village.
Sant Jordi street market
Since 1995, this street market, which specialises in second-hand items, has been held every Saturday morning three kilometres outside Ibiza, at the racecourse in the village of Sant Jordi. It’s the meeting point for locals and tourists to chat, have a good time, buy, sell, exchange, and make deals.
What can I find? All kinds of second-hand items, such as clothes, books, records, antiques, jewellery, furniture, toys… In short, there’s a wide range on offer and you’re sure to find items that will surprise you.
Santa Eulalia street market
No matter when you visit the island, you can always go to the street market held almost every day in high season from 10.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. on Passeig de S’Alamera, a central street in the municipality of Santa Eulalia.
Much smaller and humbler than the Hippy Market in Las Dalias and Punta Arabí, here you’ll find all kinds of handicrafts, costume jewellery, and accessories. That said, it’s perhaps the most accessible and urban market to treat yourself or buy a last-minute gift.
Forada Market
Every Saturday of the year, from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m., the Forada market takes place on the road that links the villages of San Rafael and Santa Inés. It takes place in an area next to a famous bar, Can Tixedó, which is the ideal starting point to begin and end a day at the market, either with breakfast or a good aperitif.
What can you find? Local, second-hand, handmade and organic produce: clothes and books, natural cosmetics, fruit, vegetables, wines and honey produced through organic farming, handmade jewellery, paintings… A colourful and alternative street market where, unlike other more famous hippy markets, you can take home a souvenir from the island without spending a fortune.
