Description
Transfer to the harbor of Santa Cruz to depart by ferry to the Island of Gran Canaria. Arriving at 'Puerto de las Nieves' (Agaete), our first stop is Destilerías Arehucas where the visitors can enjoy discovering the distillery, its history, traditions and good practices. In addition to an explanation of the rum production process. The visit takes you in one of the oldest rum cellars in Europe, containing 4,308 American oak casks. Finally we will have a tasting of a selection of our wide range of rums and liqueurs.
Afterwards we will go directly to the Aquarium Poema del Mar located in Las Palmas Gran Canaria. This theme park located in the ward of Puerto de la Luz and Las Palmas, opened on the 17th of December 2017. It is pure Majestic Nature made up of Arrecife Beach, deep Ocean and the Jungle. Inside these premises of 12,500sq mtres, there are 35 different marine ecosystems & riverines from all over the Planet. It's Architectural attractions pay tribute to the wonderful artist 'Néstor de la Torre' who stands out in the Avant Garde movements of the early 20th century with his pictorial work of art 'Poemas del Atlántico'. This was the inspiration for the name of the Aquarium.
It has the largest 'curved glass' in the world (140 tonnes of methacrylate, 36 metres long and 7 metres high). Exhibiting 350 species of 35 ecosystems in chambers where you can clearly observe them. There are sharks, piranha, fresh water stingray, fish without eyes and even crocodiles and ¡seadragons!
The visit finishes, heading into the centre to enjoy a guided walk tour at the historical area of Vegueta.
Return to Puerto de las Nieves (Agaete) to leave for Tenerife.
