What is a Carmen?

It is a type of urban housing typical of the neighborhoods of Albaicín and Realejo with an attached green space, garden and orchard at the same time, which constitutes an extension of the house, with access to the outside closed by high walls with lush vegetation. “It's not just a garden, not just an orchard” and “in general, it's not a luxury estate, but a small unit farm”.
Our private walking tour of Los Cármenes is based on the almunias or patios of the Nasrid era (XIII-XV centuries) in continuous transformation even beyond the romantic era. Even though they are more than 90% private, with us it is possible to enter some of them with the help of our local authorized expert guide.
