Autumn’s temperatures set the scene for a city break full of Casablanca sightseeing. Built in 1993 and designed by Michel Pinseau, its facade and elaborate interiors are the work of Moroccan artisans from all across the kingdom. A mosque that perfectly juxtaposes ancient tradition with modern innovations, representing the two worlds of Casablanca. The official residence of the King of Morocco, the Royal Palace of Casablanca is a must-see on your travels. While entry inside the palace is prohibited, you can still admire the elaborate architecture and beautifully manicured gardens from outside the palace walls.

Expect to uncover everything from hardware stores to cheap clothing stands but within the mix, you can pick up handmade leather goods, cosmetics and homewares, all from local creators. Henna tattoos are also popular and many stalls offer elaborate designs for the hands and body. The labyrinth of whitewashed streets will guide you through the real Casablanca, the city where the locals live and breathe. Make sure to keep an eye out for the 20-metre-tall clock tower that stands at one of the entrances to the Old Medina.

This is where locals will pick up the fresh catch of the day and stock their baskets full of local fruit and vegetables, flowers and prime cuts of meat.
